4/7/2005 Quote from ex-industry Guy
Have now finally got round to listening to the 2 tracks on-line. Bearing in mind there is nothing new in music nowadays this reminded me of late 1970's punk with mid-1970's heavy metal; the sad fact is of course that old fogies like thee and me can remember it all first-time round.
However, that does not detract from the fact that I was very pleasantly surprised. Where monolith score in my book is that they are using very strong harmonies, by which I mean the chord structure is very strong like much of the 70's rock. To people in their teens+, who have been fed a dose of generally puerile impotent woolly-harmonised pop music for the past 15 years (i.e. most of their lives), monolith must come as very refreshing change. Their music is full of energy in a way that only lads of their age can produce.
Whilst I am very cynical about the music business in 2005, nevertheless, in my view, in musical terms there is nothing to prevent them from going a lot further.
I understand that soon they are going to have a better quality recording available. My advice is that they will have to spend out on a good quality demo CD consisting of about 4 tracks, and then use this to promote themselves to the media.

  Music Now Online!
our first ever recordings, albeit not the greatest performance and quality, it does capture some of the energy we portray on stage.
better quality recordings coming soon, but for now we have Takin' It Easy, and Set me free uploaded at both www.overplay.co.uk/monolith and www.myspace.com/monolithonline.
They were recorded on the house backline at The Broadway in Norton on the 14th June! which is why some of the lead sounds thin and theres way too much delay on guitars.
albeit not our best performance it still shows a little of our songs.
Enjoy

18/6/2005 The Planet Gig
Last Night we played the planet in wolverhampton.
First off, lemme thank our dedicated fans for coming to see us. it was quite a trek and thanks for sticking around to see us, without you guys there would have been decidedly less people to see us.
We appreciate the support u give us. Especially wiffle who brings his lovely camera to every gig.
As for the gig, well, it could have been worse, could have been better.
We had all good reviews on our performance. The sound in that place however could have been better... from the reviews we had the first song sound was bad, the second song was nearly spot on, and the third song about the same, after the string breakage the sound was lost again and got better the last 2 songs. apparently the vocals didnt cut through though.
Personally i had heard that the sound there sucked anyways.
all in all it was basically a waste of time as the only people we played to apart from a few of our fans were our fans, but thanks again for turning up.
Keep Rockin'

Would just like to emphasise what Ste has said about our hardcore fans, a big thanks to you guys for coming all the way out to wolvo to watch us play for 40 minutes, means alot to us that you came down and made your presence known 8)

7/6/2005 Oh My Fucking GOD!
Tonight at the rock cafe, what can i say?
Talk about redemption... from where we were standing that was AWESOME, and from people watching, it was a major improvement on what had happened the previous week. Our finest gig yet, infront of the most people (185 people payed on the door, plus the other bands and girlfriends and other roadie type people who skanked thier way in) i'd say well over 200 people were in attendance, and WHAT A NIGHT!
the night was a triumph! a true triumph.
Hopefully, some more people will be coming to the website now as it was plugged infront of most of the people in attendance, so if you have wandered onto our website after seeing us, thanks for visiting, and we hope you can see us play again some time soon.

not alot else i can say.

Great Night, lets hope they keep coming!

Even through all the shit we have had off certain members of robs ex band, we still rocked harder than they ever could! I think playing how we did tonight speaks so much louder than fighting on an internet forum ever could!

Keep Rockin'

Additions from stevieg:
changed some of the spelling and punctuation from stus writing, but indeed, the night was very off-putting. It was certainly not the best we had played. the band as a whole were not tight and we were all sloppy at one point or another (although mr Chichums claims he didnt mess up once.)
The problems mentioned are nothing to do with the venue, as we have played our best gig there and also now our worst gig, so it wasnt the venue. the reason we were off was lack of communication, and also lack of practise.

Yet more additions from The Captain

I do indeed not remember messing anything up, I may well have done at some point and it not been noticable. Either way what went on was not the venues fault, we just weren't feeling it at all that night, looks like its back to the practice room this week. Seeyah at the next gig.

16/5/2005 Busy Busy
after a fairly busy 2 weeks after 8 weeks of being together... things are calming down, and we're getting back into the rehersal studio to get working on new material for the coming weeks.
June will be set to be a busy period for Monolith, talks are underway for gig(s) at The Shed - (a hard place for unsigned original bands to get gigs at) and also look forward to gigs at the Mitre, the Rock Cafe 2000 and more gigs at the broadway. The Maverick could also be another possibiltiy, although definately not on thier immensly bluesy Jam Nights. Man... i like my blues, but that shit is depressing.
Well... see any of you guys who can make it at this weeks Jam night at the broadway, and if not then, try and see us support Midas on the 27th of this month down the broadway with new material.

Keep Rockin

7/5/2005 Wow! best gig yet.
Well, tonight, or rather, last night, as its 2:36 as im writing this message, we had our best performance yet... using mainly our own gear we rocked harder than before. playing with rhesus and sadition (or something to that effect). playing to over 35 people (woo) we played our set and rocked... our 5 song set lasted 30 mins, but up on stage it felt like only minutes...

4/5/2005 Good Going!
Well, after approximately 8 weeks of getting the lineup, we're finally getting stuff together. We have played 3 times now, and each time we have got better than the last. We have also been asked to play with other bands after 2 of our "gigs". That must say something about us.
Let me just say a big thankyou to Wiffle also, for taking photos of us on our first "gig" at the broadway. Hopefully we can get some more sent through and i can upload more to the website :)
We now have another 2 gigs planned coming up, and also some jam nights.
Check our gig guide for when you can catch us places!
Keep Rockin'
